Author Presentation
To Remain What We Are: The Making of a WWII Luxembourg Memoir by Bruce Steinberg
Henriette Agnes stepped into the St. Charles Library Writer’s Group meeting in Illinois, looking dressed for a job interview among authors wearing jeans and t-shirts. In her distinctive Luxembourgish accent, she shared harrowing truths of her farming village (Hostert) childhood in occupied Luxembourg during WWII. Holding back tears, she asked if anyone thought she had a story. Steinberg will present the friendship that arose between them, why the process was “One of the most beautiful experiences of my life,” and the road to traditional publication of a true Luxembourg story never seen before in nonfiction literature. Advanced reader copies of To Remain What We Are will be raffled off at the member meeting.
