Because the LACS is a non-profit organization with a limited budget, it relies almost exclusively on personal donations of artifacts and archival items by members or friends of the LACS in order to help its Research Center collection grow. The Society’s closed-stacks library and climate controlled archives make the LACS an excellent repository for ensuring the safety and future utilization of rare books, artifacts, ephemera, pictures, postcards, letters, manuscripts, and more. Donated items that reflect the scope of the archives’ collections are extremely welcome and truly help to preserve history for future generations.
In addition to artifacts, the LACS gladly accepts donations of archival items including—but not limited to—obituaries, news clippings, newspapers, magazines, prayer cards, photographs/postcards, family group sheets, family histories, genealogies, maps/plats, probate records, deeds, scrap books, local/county/church histories, and audio/visual material. The original items themselves can be donated or they can be photocopied or scanned and sent the LACS.
Note: In keeping with museum standards, gift agreement forms must be completed for all donated items.
If you would like to make a donation or if you simply want more information on the donation process, please contact the LACS at 262-476-5086, or by EMAIL.
