Featured Activity: All Saints’ Day – D’Trauliicht brennen
While America Celebrates Halloween, on the Eve of All Saints’ Day (November 1st), D’Trauliicht brennen takes place in Luxembourg. This is a Northern Luxembourgish tradition for the eve of All Saints’ Day when people would hollow out beets or turnips, carve scary faces onto. Lit by a candle, these Trauliichter are then placed on village walls, windows of homes, and barns to protect households from the souls of the dead.
