20th Annual Fest Cultural Forum

July 1, 2026 by Mileana Burmesch in News

Luxembourger, Nathalie Jacoby to present at the 2026 Fest Cultural Forum

[Belgium, Wisconsin, July 01, 2026]

This year’s Fest Cultural Forum will take place on Friday, August 7th. Entitled “Multilingualism in Luxembourg’s Literature,” this year’s forum encompasses the many uses of multiple languages throughout Luxembourgish Literature. In this talk the audience will look at and listen to some of the unusual aspects of literature from Luxembourg. Guests will find out what makes Luxembourgish literature unique and investigate the exciting possibilities of playing with language(s). Director of the Luxembourg Literature Archive and Luxembourg native, Nathalie Jacoby has been announced as this year’s presenting speaker. It’s not every day that a Luxembourger visits America, but this August, Luxembourg Fest will bring people from around the Globe to learn about and celebrate Luxembourg Heritage and language together.

Nathalie Jacoby is the director of the Luxembourg Literature Archive (Centre national de littérature). A native of Luxembourg, Nathalie studied German and English literature at the University of Freiburg, Germany, where she was awarded a doctorate in German Studies in 2000. She was visiting lecturer at the University of KwaZulu Natal Pietermaritzburg, South Africa, in 1996, and spent ten years working as producer and head writer for an audioguide company in London. After returning to Luxembourg in 2009, she taught German language and literature and joined the Luxembourgish Literature Archive as a scientific collaborator. She was appointed director of the archive in 2020. She has published on literary didactics and contemporary literature.

At this year’s Cultural Forum, Jacoby will be diving into examples of the many languages used throughout Luxembourgish literature. Luxembourg’s literary landscape is one of great diversity and versatility. And one of its most unusual features is its multilingualism. German, French and, of course, Luxembourgish are the predominant languages of literary expression. But a look into Luxembourg’s author’s dictionary reveals many more languages and dialects, all somehow linked to the literary output of the Grand Duchy.
