Treipen Eating Contest
Luxembourg Fest of America, Belgium Community Park, Belgium, Wisconsin, USA

GENERAL INFORMATION

Saturday, August 8th, 2026
Time: 12:00pm – Registration
1:00pm – Contest begins

The winner of each contest will be awarded the prestigious Treipen Eating Trophy and will be named as this year’s Treipen Eating World Champion. The winner is invited to ride in the Luxembourg Fest of America Parade (optional) next year.

GOAL

The goal of the Treipen Eating Contest is to see which contestant can eat the most treipen in a 1-minute time period (Junior Competition – 30 seconds)

  • There must be a minimum of 4 contestants or the contest will be cancelled.
  • The maximum number of contestants is 16 for Adult Competition (8 for Junior Competition).
  • Registrations are taken on a first-come, first-serve basis.
  • A hold-harmless/indemnity agreement form must be completed and signed by all contestants and submitted with the registration/information application to reserve a position in the contest.
  • The Committee has the right to turn down contestants’ applications based on medical or other reasons.
  • Contestants 16 years of age and up are in the adult contest (under age 18 requires a parent/guardian signature).
  • Contestants 12-16 year age range are in the Junior Division with a parent/guardian signature.
  • Contestants may not touch or move plates, utensils, or treipen before the air horn is sounded to begin.
  • Contest will begin with the Official Timer doing count down from 5-4-3-2-1-(airhorn will then be sounded). When the air horn is sounded contestants can begin eating.
  • If a contestant “jumps” the air horn and begins to touch the eating area or eat the treipen, they will be immediately disqualified.
  • No napkins or bibs can be used. A paper towel will be provided for personal clean-up after the contest.
  • Both hands can be used as well as a fork and/or knife provided.
  • Dropping any treipen on the ground or off the table means immediate disqualification.
  • All treipen must be eaten from the plate and/or table before a second plate is placed for further consumption.
  • Contestants can remain seated or stand during the contest.
  • No water or other beverages can be consumed during the contest.
  • Small good luck charms, approved by the Contest Managers, can be placed on the contest table.
  • Vomiting during the contest automatically disqualifies the contestant.
  • Air horn will be sounded at the end of 1 minute (30 seconds for Junior Competition).
  • NO treipen can be put in any contestant’s mouth after the sounding of the final air horn.
  • Treipen still in any contestant’s mouth at the end of time-count must be swallowed immediately.
  • The Contest Judge will confer at the end of the contest and name the winner. His/her decision is final.
