Join Carlo Krieger (filmed by Milena Campagna) as he leads us through a virtual tour of Luxembourg’s hidden gems. In this virtual program, individuals will be led through a roadmap of must-see places and must-do things while visiting Luxembourg. Participants will also get a sneak-peak into the immersive Luxembourg tours hosted by the LACS in partnership with the Roots & Leaves Association of Luxembourg.

About the Speaker:
Carlo Krieger grew up on a farm outside Mertert, a small Luxembourg village situated on the banks of the Moselle River. He began his studies at the University of Vienna, went on to Miami University (Ohio) to receive a B.A. in social anthropology and continued his studies at the University of Chicago as a Fulbright grantee, before receiving his Ph.D. in Vienna, Austria. He joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as a civil servant. During the last decades he has been posted to several countries representing Luxembourg, and he most recently served in Brazil, until his retirement in April 2022. Among other tasks, he currently chairs the Luxembourg Roots and Leaves organization. He is married to Nicole Krieger-Loos and they have three children.

Milena grew up in Luxembourg City. She pursued a Bachelor’s degree in European Cultures, specializing in bioarchaeology, (University of Luxembourg/ University of Sheffield, UK) before completing a Master’s degree in Contemporary European History (University of Luxembourg) . Her master’s thesis focused on the creation of a national militia in Luxembourg.She later went on to study Photography and Moving Images (Ecole de Condé, Nancy, France) earning a Bachelor’s degree with a specialization in documentary photography. Her photographic practice is rooted in long-term documentary projects, with a particular interest in questions of migration, cultural heritage, memory, and identity.Alongside her artistic practice, she teaches art and photography at a secondary school in Luxembourg and is responsible for the digital communication at Roots & Leaves.
