The House of Luxembourg in New York City serves as a central hub for Luxembourg’s economic diplomacy and cultural exchange in the United States. This two part program explores the House’s role in strengthening Luxembourg American relations through business development, innovation, and cultural engagement. Luc Decker, Consul General of Luxembourg and Executive Director of the Luxembourg Trade and Investment Office, will discuss his role in advancing economic diplomacy, while Laurence Pierron will present the history of the House itself, tracing its significance as a diplomatic and cultural landmark. Together, their presentations offer a comprehensive view of how the House of Luxembourg supports collaboration, investment, and long-standing transatlantic ties.
About the speakers:
Luc Decker:
Since September 1st, 2024, Luc Decker is Consul General and Executive Director of the Luxembourg Trade and Investment Office (LTIO) in New York.
Between 2013 and 2020, Luc Decker held the same role in Shanghai. From 2018 to 2020, he was the Dean of the Consular Corp in that city. From 2020 to 2024, Luc was a Senior Advisor at the Ministry of the Economy, where he was Deputy Chief of Staff of the Minister of the Economy, and later piloted the talent attraction program.
Luc Decker joined the Ministry of the Economy in 2005, after obtaining his master’s degree in political science in Paris, at the Sorbonne (Université Paris 1). He is also a passionate swimmer and represented Luxembourg at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney. Luc is married and has two children.
Laurence Pierron:
Laurence Pierron spent over 25 years as Executive Assistant to six Consuls General at the Consulate General of Luxembourg in New York, where she played a key role in economic missions, cultural programming, and award-winning publications tied to the historic 17 Beekman Place. A self-taught Creative Director, she later transformed this cultural legacy into acclaimed musical productions, including White Christmas: A Tribute to the Life and Music of Irving Berlin and Timeless Songs from the Silver Screen, performed in the U.S. since 2018. Trained in classical piano and an accomplished dancer, Pierron is a native of France, a U.S. citizen since 1998, and relocated to Paris in late 2025 after more than four decades in New York.
She is currently writing a new musical show while marketing her two existing ones to be performed in France and Monaco. She is also working on concert series with French conductor, Nathalie Marin and American Concert Pianist Mira Armij Gill.
