The only opportunity to view it will be live![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]  \nAbout the speaker: \nCarlo Krieger grew up on a farm outside Mertert\, a small Luxembourg village situated on the banks of the Moselle River. \nHe began his studies at the University of Vienna\, went on to Miami University (Ohio) to receive a B.A. in social anthropology and continued his studies at the University of Chicago as a Fulbright grantee\, before receiving his Ph.D. in Vienna\, Austria. \nHe joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as a civil servant. During the last decades he has been posted to several countries representing Luxembourg\, and he most recently served in Brazil\, until his retirement in April 2022. \nAmong other tasks\, he currently chairs the Luxembourg Roots and Leaves organization. \nHe is married to Nicole Krieger-Loos and they have three children.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The House of Luxembourg in New York City serves as a central hub for Luxembourg’s economic diplomacy and cultural exchange in the United States. This two part program explores the House’s role in strengthening Luxembourg American relations through business development\, innovation\, and cultural engagement. Luc Decker\, Consul General of Luxembourg and Executive Director of the Luxembourg Trade and Investment Office\, will discuss his role in advancing economic diplomacy\, while Laurence Pierron will present the history of the House itself\, tracing its significance as a diplomatic and cultural landmark. Together\, their presentations offer a comprehensive view of how the House of Luxembourg supports collaboration\, investment\, and long-standing transatlantic ties. \n  \nAbout the speakers: \nLuc Decker:  \nSince September 1st\, 2024\, Luc Decker is Consul General and Executive Director of the Luxembourg Trade and Investment Office (LTIO) in New York. \nBetween 2013 and 2020\, Luc Decker held the same role in Shanghai. From 2018 to 2020\, he was the Dean of the Consular Corp in that city. From 2020 to 2024\, Luc was a Senior Advisor at the Ministry of the Economy\, where he was Deputy Chief of Staff of the Minister of the Economy\, and later piloted the talent attraction program. \nLuc Decker joined the Ministry of the Economy in 2005\, after obtaining his master’s degree in political science in Paris\, at the Sorbonne (Université Paris 1). He is also a passionate swimmer and represented Luxembourg at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney. Luc is married and has two children. \nLaurence Pierron:  \nLaurence Pierron spent over 25 years as Executive Assistant to six Consuls General at the Consulate General of Luxembourg in New York\, where she played a key role in economic missions\, cultural programming\, and award-winning publications tied to the historic 17 Beekman Place. A self-taught Creative Director\, she later transformed this cultural legacy into acclaimed musical productions\, including White Christmas: A Tribute to the Life and Music of Irving Berlin and Timeless Songs from the Silver Screen\, performed in the U.S. since 2018. Trained in classical piano and an accomplished dancer\, Pierron is a native of France\, a U.S. citizen since 1998\, and relocated to Paris in late 2025 after more than four decades in New York. \nShe is currently writing a new musical show while marketing her two existing ones to be performed in France and Monaco. Building on the first talk\, which covered the early years from 963 to 1443\, this installment focuses on the transformative period beginning in 1443\, when Luxembourg came under foreign rule. From there\, it traces the country’s evolution through centuries of political\, social\, and cultural change. \n  \nAbout the Speaker: \nMarc lives in Frisange\, Luxembourg and works as Head of Employee Benefits Department for La Luxembourgeoise\, one of the leading insurance companies in Luxembourg. He has a passion for genealogy and the Luxembourg emigration to the United States. He has published an article about the local emigration from Frisange\, Aspelt and Hellange to America and has researched the emigration from Luxembourg’s Moselle region to the United States. He also wrote for the municipality of Dalheim about emigration from the villages of Dalheim\, Filsdorf\, and Welfrange to the United States.
