DESCRIPTION:[vc_row css=”.vc_custom_1788966175901{padding-bottom: 25px !important;}”][vc_column][vc_column_text]Saturday September 12th\, 2026 (10am-11am\, Central Time) \nJoin Carlo Krieger (filmed by Milena Campagna) as he leads us through a virtual tour of Luxembourg’s hidden gems. In this virtual program\, individuals will be led through a roadmap of must-see places and must-do things while visiting Luxembourg. Participants will also get a sneak-peak into the immersive Luxembourg tours hosted by the LACS in partnership with the Roots & Leaves Association of Luxembourg. \nTickets:\nMembers: Free\nNon-Members: $15 \nAbout the Speaker: \nCarlo Krieger grew up on a farm outside Mertert\, a small Luxembourg village situated on the banks of the Moselle River. He began his studies at the University of Vienna\, went on to Miami University (Ohio) to receive a B.A. in social anthropology and continued his studies at the University of Chicago as a Fulbright grantee\, before receiving his Ph.D. in Vienna\, Austria. He joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as a civil servant. During the last decades he has been posted to several countries representing Luxembourg\, and he most recently served in Brazil\, until his retirement in April 2022. Among other tasks\, he currently chairs the Luxembourg Roots and Leaves organization. He is married to Nicole Krieger-Loos and they have three children. \nCamera Work: Milena Campagna \n \nMilena grew up in Luxembourg City. She pursued a Bachelor’s degree in European Cultures\, specializing in bioarchaeology\, (University of Luxembourg/ University of Sheffield\, UK) before completing a Master’s degree in Contemporary European History (University of Luxembourg) . Her master’s thesis focused on the creation of a national militia in Luxembourg.She later went on to study Photography and Moving Images (Ecole de Condé\, Nancy\, France) earning a Bachelor’s degree with a specialization in documentary photography. Her photographic practice is rooted in long-term documentary projects\, with a particular interest in questions of migration\, cultural heritage\, memory\, and identity.Alongside her artistic practice\, she teaches art and photography at a secondary school in Luxembourg and is responsible for the digital communication at Roots & Leaves.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1788966215192{padding-top: 25px !important;padding-bottom: 25px !important;}”]*This virtual program is a part of the Let’s Talk Luxembourg Series put on by the Luxembourg American Cultural Society (LACS). SUMMARY:Living Memory Project: Voices of Luxembourg's Holocaust Survivors
DESCRIPTION:Saturday October 24th\, 2026 (10am-11am\, Central Time) \nSince May 2024\, the Zentrum fir politesch Bildung\, with the support of its partners\, carries out a major campaign to collect testimonies from Holocaust survivors linked to Luxembourg.\nNearly 60 interviews were conducted in 8 countries with these people\, who were children at the time. Join Blandine Landau as she discusses this project which she is leading. \nTickets:\nMembers: Free\nNon-Members: $15 \nABOUT THE SPEAKER: \nAfter her master’s degrees in art history and museology\, Dr. Blandine Landau pursued a career in museums. From 2016 to 2020 she conducted a PhD studying the market of Boschian pictures from the 16th century to nowadays (Duke University – Université Lyon II). In 2024 she defended a PhD focusing on the dispossession of the Jews in Luxembourg during World War II (C2DH-University of Luxembourg – EHESS\, Paris). Her first post-doctoral project focused on the recording and indexation of testimonies of Shoah survivors connected to Luxembourg (Zentrum fir politesch Bildung\, Luxembourg\, and EHESS\, Paris).  Since September 2025 she leads various post-doctoral projects linked to the Digital Memorial of the Shoah in Luxembourg at the C2DH – University of Luxembourg and as an associate researcher at the EHESS.
